Busy Boy...

So, what's been happening lately? For the last week, I must admit that I haven't had much time to use my camera. "What?, Emery-say it ain't so!" It's true. Some friends here at the campground bought a new trailer and moved to a new site. And they offered me their 40' deck if I could take it apart and move it in 2 days. Well, not one to miss out out some demo and building opportunities, I jumped at the chance. I had it taken down in pieces and moved 1/2 mile in 8 hours.

Before
And then the fun begins. putting it back together...Which is not as quick as taking it down. Had 1/2 of it back up at our place in a day and a half. And my back is feeling it. I'll take my time here on in and try to finish it in the next couple of weeks.
1/2 way there!

Less than 4 more weeks to go before we move back home for the season. Boo! Really enjoyed the campground lifestyle. Met some really nice people and made lots of really good friends.

Also, what else has been happening? I redesigned my website with help from the guys at MyProPhoto .Thought it needed a fresher look. Check it out at EmerysIsland.Com. Let me know what you think!

And now I'm waiting for the print of the Covered bridge I took for a client last week. That will be in by Friday, and then it's over to Kevin at U-Frame, We-Frame in Laconia for, no, not framing..., but mounting. They do a great job of mounting on laminated wood. Love it!
And thought I was done....nope....client wants another Covered bridge...So this weekend, Sue and I are on a road trip. I printed off a list of the covered bridges in NH, and this weekend I'll try and build up a bigger portfolio of them. We'll start close to home. There are 3 more within 20 miles of us.

As a parting shot for today, here's the covered bridge over the Contoocook River in Henniker, NH

Stay dry my friends. There's some nasty rain and wind happening outside...

Blue Moon....

Yup, I'm still alive and well and in pursuit of that next shot...

It's been a wonderfully busy month. Getting prints done and framed for a client, working at the Weare old home day, and watching the summer wind down...Summer has gone much to quickly as always. Sue and I really had a blast at Cold Springs this summer. Met some great people and made many new friends. We only have 6 weeks left and then it's back to Gilford.
I rented a Canon 100-400 lens for the week from GlassAndGear.com. I was thinking of buying one but I'm torn between that and a 70-200. A guy at Hunts Camera said I should try renting first. So I did that for the week. If, you are ever in the same situation, it may pay to rent first. Very inexpensive. Still haven't decided yet. Think I need to rent the other one first before making my decision.
Anyway, I've been trying out this lens all week (And loving the heavy thing). I was out at the pond on the 31st, trying to get the shot of the Blue Moon (2nd full Moon of the month), when a bunch of boys came by to check out what I was doing. They seemed very inquisitive, and I promised to post a pic from that shoot. So, here's my Blue Moon...

F/8; 1/160s; ISO 100; 400mm
WB: Tungsten
(ok, and a hint of blue in Photoshop)

Ok, there you go guys. Enjoyed talking to you, and sorry I didn't get your names.

And here's another, just plain natural...

I'll post some other pics from the new lens once I get a chance to view the results myself.
Happy Labor Day!
